Job Description

Job Title: Physical Therapist Assistant Program Director 

DEFINITION: Under immediate supervision of the Director of Education, the Program Director is responsible for acquiring and maintaining programmatic accreditation as he/she will be key in developing accreditation submission materials/reports for CAPTE and other accrediting agencies. In addition, performs related work as required. The PTA Program Director is a full-time employee of our client and may assume other assignments within the Institute.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:

The information listed below is meant to serve as samples of job duties and responsibilities for positions in this classification. This list is neither inclusive nor exclusive, but indicative of several types of duties performed:

• Develop and maintain the PTA curriculum

• Prepare and monitor the programmatic budget

• Select, supervise, evaluate, and mentor the PTA faculty

• Prepare the course schedules per semester and make teaching assignments based on instructor

   qualifications    

• Instruct up to fifteen hours in the classroom per semester (and as appointed by the Director of     

   Education)

• Ensure compliance with all accreditation standards for the program

• Communicate with CAPTE to submit necessary reports and fees


The Program Director will be responsible for key program metrics including:

• National exam pass rate

• Retention

• Graduation rates

• Placement, and

• Student demographic information.


QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications: A minimum of a Master's degree awarded by an institution that is recognized by a USDE recognized accrediting body. Must hold a current license/certification to practice as a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. He/she will have five (5) or more years of documented experience in the field of physical therapy that includes at least three (3) years of clinical experience; didactic and/or clinical teaching experience; administration/management experience; and experience in educational theory and methodology, instructional design, student evaluation and outcome assessment, including the equivalent of nine academic semester credits of coursework in educational foundations.

Expectations: PTA Program Director must be available to staff and students via email, phone, Microsoft Teams and/or Zoom. They may work remotely as approved by the Campus President and/or during inclement weather and campus closures.

TERMS OF AGREEMENT

• Establish an on-campus (at least 4 hours a week not including instructional time) and a virtual     

   support schedule

• Provide own internet service.

• Strive to meet standard scores on course evaluations and student surveys.

• Assist in meeting campus retention rate.

• Facilitate at least two department meetings, monthly, to stay connected.

• Attend quarterly all-staff meetings to stay connected.

• Maintain exclusivity to our client.

• Commit to continuous improvement as an educator by attending trainings and professional    

   development opportunities as desired or as assigned.

• Attend one graduation ceremony a year.

• Participate in school sponsored activities.

• Participate in professional development as assigned by the Director of Education.

Experience Requirements

5 + yrs of documented experience in the field of Physical Therapy which should include 3 yrs of Clinical experience,Didactic or Clinical teaching experience, Administrative Management, Educational Theory and Methodology and Instructional Design, student evaluation and outcome assessment.
